Wishful Wednesday: Spring/Summer Looks

With onset of beautiful weather for the past few days and then the crappy weather today, I'm REALLY wishing for Spring.  It's my absolute favorite time of the year, and I'm seriously wishing these looks make their way into my closet soon.

This outfit would be so perfect for days spent in Seaside, FL.

Love this unexpected mix of colors.

Comfy, but chic.  I clearly have a thing for maxi skirts...

(Mississippi) Hippy chic ;)

Perfect for a Spring day relaxing with the ones you love.

I'm excited to wear my denim vest with my eyelet dress, just like this one!

Happy Hump Day!!

End of Summer Wish List

The end of summer always makes me start wishing for lots of new things to start the new year off right.   For some reason, I think of the new year as starting when school starts, not when an actual new year rolls around.  Anyway, here's my end of summer wish list!

School Supplies
Mainly a Lilly Pulitzer planner, but all school supplies make me really happy.  I'm such a teacher's kid.

Bicycle
After riding bikes everywhere on vacation in Seaside, I'm really itching for a bike of my own.  A really cute one with a basket would be nice.

New Glasses
So I wear contacts.  I hardly ever take them out.  This is mainly because I hate my glasses.  They aren't the right prescription, and I've had the same ones for 5 years.  I feel like if I actually liked them, I would wear them more often.  I really want these Sophia Loren ones.

Outdoor Furniture
I want adirondack chairs, a porch swing and window boxes.  Stat.

Barefoot Moscato Bubbly
Love this stuff.

Summer Sale Clothes
My favorite boutique, Irie, in Hattiesburg is having a HUGE summer sale this weekend!  50% off the entire stock of spring and summer clothing.  50% off select handbags, watches and clutches.  $9.99 and $19.99 racks and shoes and accessories are 50% off.  Such a good weekend for it to be my birthday! Click the picture below to go to their Facebook site.  They also ship for a $5 flat rate when your order off Facebook.  I actually used to work there, and the owner, Ashley, is such a sweetheart and fabulous.  She's so amazing at pulling things for you that will look excellent. Love her and I LOVE Irie Boutique!! Stop in this weekend!

Tomorrow is the big day! Can't wait to share pictures from the fabulous weekend ahead!  Have a good one, hippies!

Eat Clean, Train Dirty

The goal of my summer was to take some time off from school and work before I begin grad school in August.  Well, that didn't really happen.  I decided to do an unpaid internship two days a week to get some experience, then I decided to babysit one day a week to make a little money.  That one day a week has turned into 1-3 days a week, and although I love it, the time I really wanted to spend focusing on myself and getting healthy has dwindled down drastically.  With my 22nd birthday quickly approaching and the end of summer, I've decided to reel myself back in and really focus on my health and sanity, so I'm refreshed and ready for a new school year.

In doing this, I've decided to take on the task of "eating clean."  For those of you who do not know what this means, eating clean is the practice of eating whole, natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and complex carbohydrates.  Also, it means staying away from the junk that makes up most American's, especially southerners, diets.  I've been doing P90X, so I've got the training dirty part down so far, but the diet is more difficult for me.  I'm always on the go, so it's hard to cook and eat at home all the time.  I'm really going to try to make this work though.

I'll keep y'all updated when I come across recipes I particularly enjoy, my progress, and what works best for me.  How do y'all stay in shape and keep healthy?

Sweet Summertime

Summer is without a doubt my favorite season.  Although this summer has been spent, for the most part, working at a non paid marketing/public relations internship, I'm still doing my best to make time for my favorite summer activities.  While the beach and time away from school or work are the obvious favorites, my list of sunny season fun is a little different.

Country Music
I love country music any time of the year, but something about summer time just strikes a chord (pun intended).  There's something about a southern melody that sweetly flows through the hot, humid air on a Mississippi summer night that speaks right to my soul.  Some of this summer's favorites are:

Drunk on You
by Luke Bryan

Springsteen
by Eric Church

Any Lady Antebellum song

The Summer Night Sky
I could seriously lay in the yard and stare at the sky all night long, and the summertime is the perfect time to do this.  I love to hang up my ENO Hammock and sway back in forth in the breeze.  There's just something so soothing and peaceful about staring up at the stars.  It just puts me at ease.  I even saw a shooting star while doing this recently!  Try it and let me know what you think!

Flowing, Girly Dresses
When your were a little girl, didn't you just love wearing those poofy dresses that you could twirl around in for hours?? The ones that got the perfect amount of air underneath them to make you feel like a princess or a fairy or whatever it is you dreamt of being, those were the best.  Wearing these kind of dresses, but updated of course, is one of my favorite parts of summer.  They're perfect for running errands or for nights out.  They're comfortable and cool and so perfect for those hot southern days.  My current favorite flowing, girly dress is a white, eyelet Flying Tomato dress I got last year from Irie Boutique.

The Watering Hole
So those of you that are not from the south will probably not understand this, but I will try to explain.  My friends and I discovered a little runoff from a river back in the middle of nowhere.  There's no cell phone service, and to be quite honest, it looks a little like a scene from the movie Deliverance.  Despite this, it has charm and some pretty amazing memories.  There's a rope swing and a limb at the very top of a pine tree that you can jump off of and into the water below.  There's a small beach/sand bar thing that I'm not quite sure how it got there, and it takes a good ole country boy's four wheel drive truck to get back there.  This is all part of its appeal.  I've had some of the best times of my life in this little country hide out.

These are just a few of my most favorite parts of sweet summertime.  What are some of yours?

Current Trends I'm Obsessed With

1.  Maxi Dresses/Skirts

The maxi is just so easy and effortless.  It's a wonderful summer look for summer that anyone can pull off.  Perfect for the beach, errands, or even a night out, the maxi dress/skirt is a must for this summer.

2.  Stacking

I'm absolutely in love with this trend, y'all.  You can make it funky or classic.  Stacking is the perfect way to spice up an old, plain outfit, and it's so easy to do.  No need to go out and buy a bunch of new bracelets.  Throw on anything you have and go! So simple to do and so chic.

3.  Lace

This trend is beautiful.  Lace is so classy and old school and perfect.  It's girly and can be dressed up or dressed down.  Lace is a definite DO this summer.

4.  Head Scarves

Forget the hours spent making your hair look perfect this summer!  Wrap it up in a boho scarf or head band and head out the door.  So hippy chic, so easy, and ideal for summers on the go.

5.  Colored Denim

Colored denim is fun and flirty and an excellent choice for any casual outfit this summer.  Date night, girls night, or running errands, throw on a pair of these bright jeans and you'll be anything but boring this season.
